The
Gamble House in Pasadena, California, is the master work example of
the Arts and Crafts period in America. The house was
designed by Charles and Henry Greene for David and Mary
Gamble, of Proctor and Gamble fame. .The dominant features
are the bold horizontal lines, which are characteristic of the Greene's
home designs. There are broad overhanging eaves, hand carved rafter
tails and shingle siding. from the interior view below, you
can see the craftsmanship of the interior, along with the stained
glass. The house is a National Historic Landmark. It is owned by the
City of Pasadena and operated by the University of Southern California. |
